Accomodation

A Volunteer / intern always stays in a host family where you have your own room with a bed and a ventilator. You will join the meals offered by the family. The host family takes care of your breakfast and your evening meal. You will take care of your own lunch. With some projects it is possible to stay internally. No costs will be charged for this. However, you are expected to provide your own meals. For further information, please contact Team NL.

Heart4Ghana thinks it's important not to place many volunteers working at a project, because this could have a negative effect on the relationship we have with our partners. We offer the possibility to work alone or in pairs. Sometimes it is not possible to work with two people at the same project. IN that case we will make sure that two volunteers are placed in the same village.

Duration of the Program

A stay with a minimum of 2 weeks is already possible if you opt for the village experience! However, we recommend a minimum stay of 8 weeks. A longer period ensus a higher continuity on the projects. This makes it really possible to enter into a sustainable partnership in which both the local organization and the volunteer benefit optimally. A shorter stay is also possible of course, but your activities will be more focused on short-term support in the form of a defined assignment.

Program costs

One-off costs

The one-off costs consist of three parts. Part 1 is spent on a thorough preparation before departure. Included are the information meetings, extensive advice regarding preparation of your trip, assistance with visa application and the special preparation training of partner organization Muses Foundation. Administration and transaction costs are also included here.
Part 2 is spent on your assistance and superviosion during your stay in Ghana. You can think of the introduction days, transport costs, assistance at the project by a personal buddy, 24/7 availability of Team Ghana for questions and emergencies, salary of local employees and other local costs to make your stay possible. The selection, supervision and evaluation of the project partners and host families with whom we work with are also included.
Part 3 is spent on project costs and donations. Team NL monitors the quality and integrity of the projects in Ghana and monitors the spending of donations. Donations are managed by Heart4Ghana and allocated in proportion to the different projects. We want to prevent an unequal relationship between you and the local community. However, your commitment as a volunteer is meant to learn from the local community and to exchange knowledge on the basis of equality.
If you would like to donate extra to a specific project, you can do so through Heart4Ghana Foundation. We ensure that it is spent in a responsible manner.

Monthly recurring costs

The cost for the host family is a monthly contribution. You only have to pay this if you cannot stay internally at a project. Included are breakfast and dinner. You will take care of your own lunch at the project.

In addition you will pay a monthly fee for assistance and supervision. Included are the 24/7 availability of Team Ghana for questions, guidance and emergencies, regular visit from a Team Ghana staff member to the project to monitor your progress, salary of Team Ghana staff member, transport costs and possibly other costs necessary to facilitate your stay in Ghana.
