Workshops

After all the work at the project, it is nice to relax once in a while. The workshops below can help. You are free to organize your time in the weekends and therefor you will have the opportunity to participate in one of these workshops. In addition we offer Dagbani language lesoons on a regular basis aswell. Especially if you are on a project for a longer period of time, it is nice to have mastered the fundamentals of the language. For more information about the language lessons or other workshop, please contact Team Ghana.

Would you like to do one of these workshops? You can indicate on your registration form which workshop you want to do. Are you not yet sure if you want to do this? No problem, you can also book it once you are in Ghana.

Workshop local hut building

The traditional houses of the Dagomba are the typical round mud houses with thatched roofs. New huts are regularly built in the community. Are you curious about how such a local house is built? Then sign up for this workshop.

Workshop local dance or drumming

Traditional dancing/drumming workshop includes the Bamaya, FmeFme, Kpalongo. It is possible to continue with dancing/drumming lessons after participating in the workshop. Team Ghana will introduce you to a local dancing group for more lessons if preferred.

  • Minimum number of participants: 2

  • Addional lessons: $10 per hour p.p.

Workshop preparing Shea Butter

You probably won't have missed it, Shea butter is processed in many cosmetic products. This product comes from the Shea nuts and is won by the local women in Northern Ghana. Would you like to try out how they process the Shea nuts into a beautiful product? Then join this workshop.

  • Costs: $18,- p.p.
  • Minimum number of participants: 2


Workshop Tie & Dye / Batiks

Fabric printing in Ghana is traditionally done with Tie and Dye and / or the Batiks technique. However, mechanization has made it a dying profession. By following this workshop you help to survive this craftsmanship.

Workshop Jewelry making

Would you like to make your own traditional jewelry? The waist beads are a real Dagomba tradition. You can make your own hip chain in this workshop.

  • costs: $13 per person

  • minimum number of participants: 2 pers.

Workshop Dagbani lesson

Do you like to learn more about the local language? Then take part in Dagbani lessons. A professional teacher teaches you the intricacies of the language.

  • costs: $13 per person for 3 hours

  • minimum number of participants: 2

Workshop Smock making

Come take a look at the workshop of the smock maker. The traditional clothing worn by the men in the north. He will show you how the materials are woven, dyed and then sewn into a smock.
